Late in 2007, I was invited to attend a Connections Networking Group meeting. “Why not?”, I thought, “if nothing else, it’s a nice break from the office and a good excuse to go out for lunch.” Now over a year later, I look forward to our twice monthly meetings and have gotten so much more out of the group than lunch.
Connections is a growing strong-contact networking group. The group is made up of professionals (only one member per industry) from the Hutchinson-Litchfield-Dassel-Cokato areas. Connections provides a structured supportive system of giving and receiving referrals. All of the members of the group have been able to educate the rest on who they are and what they do. This knowledge has turned each of the members into outside “salespeople” for the entire group. When we meet someone who could use members’ products or services, we can comfortably recommend one of our members. It’s as simple as that! It’s simple because it’s based on a proven concept “If I give you a referral, you’ll give me a referral and we’ll both benefit as a result.
Not only have I been on the giving and receiving end of referrals from the group, I have met new people and developed friendships that have benefitted me both professionally and personally.
Anyone interested in joining the Connections Networking Group, drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’d love to have you give us a “test-drive” at our next meeting.
