Most modern cleaning products are based on old formulas using natural ingredients that were passed down through the generations because the chemistry was right. Going back to the original formula is a way to make effective cleaning products, avoid pollution, and save money for your business. Most of the ingredients are found right in your kitchen cupboards.
Non-toxic cleaning can give you a feeling of gratitude in knowing that your health (and your co-workers’) is protected and that you are also helping the environment.
Making your own kit will take no time at all, and you will have enough cleaning solution for months. Ounce for ounce homemade cleaning formulas cost about 1/10 the price of their commercial counterpart. What a great way to save overhead right away!
Collect this basic list: Baking Soda, White Distilled Vinegar, Washing Soda (found in the laundry section of grocery store), Liquid Dish Soap, and spray bottles.
Creamy Soft Scrubber– Simply pour ½ cup baking soda into a bowl with enough water to make a frosting-like texture. Scoop the mixture onto a sponge to scrub sinks, porcelain, cook tops, or any appliance that needs “grit” without leaving any scratches or grit behind!
Window Cleaner– Mix ¼ teaspoon liquid detergent, 3 tablespoons vinegar, 2 cups water in a spray bottle. Shake well and use.
All Purpose Cleaner– Mix ½ teaspoon washing soda, a dab of liquid soap, and 2 cups HOT tap water. Combine ingredients in a spray bottle and shake until the washing soda has dissolved. Apply and wipe off with sponge or rag.
