Mobile marketing is on the minds of many! We have clients who have already embraced and invested in mobile design, but many who are not quite there and realize mobile needs to be addressed soon. Our team is fielding questions about the options available to ‘go mobile’. My musings are meant to help you better understand just one of the options available to consider, a ‘Mobile Responsive’ website design.
Some Remark!able Mobile Statistics
- Mobile web access from a tablet device has been growing at a remarkable rate of 173% year after year – mobile phone access up 67% – while the desktop/laptop access is declining at a rate of 6% year after year! (Comscore)
- Users searching for something on their mobile device 9 times out of 10 will take an action. Over 50% of their actions lead to a purchase! (Search Engine Land)
- 74% of users are only willing to wait for a web page to load within 5 seconds before they ditch it (Compuware)
What is Mobile Responsive Design and Why?
A mobile responsive site is specifically designed and programmed so it will serve up the appropriate view of your website’s content, photos, and navigation based on the size of the user’s screen. The site ‘responds to’ any device your current or potential customer is looking you up on! Since mobile responsive uses a ‘one platform to many devices’ – you still have the ability to update content in one location. Google likes it and recommends if you are concerned about SEO. While there is additional time and strategy involved in creating a new mobile responsive site, it is one of the more cost effective investments you can make in going mobile.
