Has your business been closed to the public or your event canceled? Think of online possibilities. There may be a way for you to continue your business or event in a new way, online. We’ve watched a number of local businesses do just this over the last month with great success. While this may not work for everything, give it a shot and think about the possibilities.
Businesses and Events Moved Online

Online Classes – Tara at The Paint Factory normally hosts in-person painting classes where attendees attend a painting class in person. The Paint Factory provides the supplies and walks you through completing a painting step by step. Tara transitioned quickly and started out by putting together take home paint kits, she also added how-to videos and scheduled painting classes via Zoom. People still get to enjoy the painting experience provided by The Paint Factory and their business keeps taking steps forward!
Virtual Open House – Each spring Excelsior Homes West, Inc. hosts an in-person week-long open house event. This year in coincided with Minnesota’s Stay at Home order, which is not ideal for an open house. They shifted to hosting a Virtual Open House to continue to provide an experience for people to learn more about what they offer. They created videos with staff, home tours, and shared helpful information throughout their open house week on their Facebook page and website. They setup a prize giveaway just like they normally have at their open house and overall were able to continue to engage with people interested in learning more about their business and their homes. We admire their shifting of gears to continue with business every day!
Virtual Tours – Do you know someone trying to buy or sell their home right now? The Broll Team has adjusted to doing many things virtually. They can do virtual home tours to minimize contact for buyers and sellers. If someone is looking for home staging advice they can do that too without ever entering your home. This is a helpful service for people looking to do home projects that have impact to increase their home’s value or prepare it for future sale. Doing things a little different to get things done!
By trying something new online you might find that it works well and gives you the ability to expand your business. The above stories are just a few examples. Could you apply a similar process to your business? You might find that customers love your new approach and that you continue offering this after business gets back to normal. It could create new opportunities, and with it brings hope!
