Frequently Asked Questions About Facebook Business Pages

Questions From Small Businesses Like Yours

Managing a Facebook business page can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re focused on running your business. We regularly hear the same questions from small business owners who want to use Facebook effectively but aren’t sure about the basics.

Whether you’re wondering about logins, security, or scheduling posts, these five frequently asked questions will help you understand exactly what you need to know to manage your Facebook presence confidently.

Facebook Business Page FAQs

Do I need a separate account and password to log into my Facebook business page?

No, there are no separate logins for Facebook business pages. You can only log into Facebook using your personal Facebook account. Your business page is then managed through your personal account, which needs to have administrator status for that page. Think of your personal account as the “key” that unlocks access to manage your business page. No one should ever have more than one personal Facebook account, as this is against Facebook’s rules, and you should never create a separate account just for logging into your business page, which could get you or your page banned entirely.

Do I really need two-factor authentication set up?

Yes, absolutely. Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra security step when logging in, typically sending a code to your phone. Since your business page is connected to your personal Facebook account, if someone hacks your personal account, they gain control of your business page too. This could mean unauthorized posts, or even losing access to your page entirely. Setting up 2FA takes just a few minutes but can save you from major headaches and potential business damage.

Why do I need more than one full administrator of the page?

Having multiple administrators is like having spare keys to your business. If a sole administrator loses access to their personal Facebook account, gets locked out, or leaves the company, you could be completely locked out of your business page. Facebook’s account recovery process can take weeks or sometimes doesn’t work at all. With multiple administrators, your business stays accessible even if one person has account issues. It’s a simple backup plan that prevents a social media disaster.

Can I schedule my posts ahead of time?

Yes, Facebook provides free scheduling tools through Meta Business Suite (formerly Facebook Creator Studio). You can write posts, add images, and set them to publish automatically at specific dates and times. This is perfect for maintaining a consistent posting schedule, planning content around holidays or events, and managing your social media presence even when you’re busy running other parts of your business.

How do I know if I have a Facebook Business Manager?

There are three likely scenarios: you don’t have any Business Manager, there’s a Business Manager that you don’t have access to, or you have access to it but don’t know how to find or use it. If you have direct admin access to your Facebook page, you can check by logging in, going to Settings, then Page Access (formerly called Admin Access). Look for a section that shows “This page is owned by.” This will either show an individual with a Business Manager or a Business Manager for the business. If you don’t see anything listed there, you likely don’t have one. Another way to check is to visit business.facebook.com directly while logged into Facebook. If you have a Business Manager and access to it, it should take you to your dashboard. If you don’t have one, Facebook will prompt you to create one. Business Manager is actually helpful for organizing your business assets like pages and ad accounts in one place, but it’s important to know you have it so you can access all your business tools and settings properly and grant or remove access to other people through the Business Manager. One major advantage of granting page access solely through a Business Manager is that you can require everyone to have two-factor authentication enabled.
