Every brand has a story.
You have a story on how your company started. You have a story on how far your company has come. Each change, iteration, and evolution tells a bit of your story. How are you sharing that story with your customer base? Did you know that your brand, and more specifically, your logo could help do that?
Your logo is a quick visual that represents your brand.
While it can be a mix of symbols and fonts, your logo is an important item that helps distinguish your business from others, and can many times be the first impression of your business. It communicates a lot of things quickly to a viewer and can become a powerful tool to connect with them. Combining different elements to create a mini story can help build recognition, connection, and loyalty with your customers.
Things to consider when choosing a logo:
Simplicity
Keep it simple. Attention spans are not very long; you don’t want to waste a person’s time or energy with a bunch of clutter. Sometimes simple can allow it to be more memorable.
Symbol or Icon
An impactful visual symbol or icon within a logo can help create recognition. Think about many of the brands you know and can remember easily – they are simple, but create some sort of connection with you.
Colors
Colors have a lot of power in a brand’s story. Colors can effect how a brand is perceived as different colors convey different emotions. It’s important to consider what you want a view to feel when looking at and thinking about your logo.
Typography/Fonts
Like colors, fonts are a great way to show the personality of your brand. There are hundreds of options to choose from. Fonts can make a logo look playful and fun or stoic and rigid.
Adaptable
Brands have so many avenues to get out into the world right now. Having a scalable and versatile brand, that can relay the same message throughout different spaces, is important.
Consistency
The most important thing out of all is to be as consistent as possible with your brand across all the platforms you are present on. Having multiple logos that look nothing alike can confuse people as to who you are.
Examples of logo stories we’ve worked on
Be a Great Teacher
Symbol/Icon Element
We redesigned Be a Great Teacher’s logo when they underwent a name change from Educational Resources. Be a Great Teacher provides ongoing education for teachers in a variety of mediums. The goal was to share all of these in one visual element: books, online, and videos.
McCormicks
Adaptability & Consistency
McCormicks restaurant has a long-standing history in Hutchinson. A struggle they had was having a logo that was hard to integrate into their marketing. We kept the integrity of the previous logo, but made sure that it was a scalable and versatile brand.
