Content that promotes hatred, violence, & attacks against groups of race or ethnicity, age, religious beliefs, disability, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or veteran status is considered hate speech.
Google has been adding on to their hate speech policy. Most individuals and businesses don’t want their ads to be shown next to content that doesn’t coordinate with their core values. Although Google does encourage free speech, anything that promotes hatred and/or violence are not permitted within the Google ad network. Ads in Google that go against this policy will be removed for inappropriate content.
What Does this Mean for Me?
If you are advertising within the Google ad network & YouTube, more information will be available to you regarding where your ads are running. It is now easier for you to exclude specific websites for which your ads are being shown and pick where you do want your ads to appear. There will also be easier ways to report issues of ads being placed on inappropriate sites, and the cases submitted will be dealt with within a short amount of time.
Google is placing a higher importance on their hate speech policy & is open to your feedback.
