If you like to be on the forefront of social media marketing, you might want to check out Instagram Reels if you haven’t already. Reels is Instagram (and Facebook’s) short-form video platform, and it’s definitely gaining traction and being used by businesses and individuals around the world.
Reels Changes Instagram Up a Bit!
There are some very unique aspects of Reels that include vertical video, consistent with how people hold their phones and naturally record video. Reels limits video to 90 seconds, meaning you need to hook the audience right away and get to the point so you keep their attention!
Another feature that makes it different from those familiar with Instagram is the ability (and necessity) to use it on a desktop computer. If you are a regular Instagram user, you know that Instagram was designed for phone use and really isn’t conducive to desktop computer use. IGTV makes posting videos simple, fast, and enjoyable, especially if their stored and edited on your computer.
If you’re thinking of giving Reels a whirl, here are a few basics that will help:
- Use vertical videos – 1080×1920 pixels
- MP4 file format
- Videos must be less than 90 seconds long
- Cover images must be 1080×1920 pixels and once uploaded there is no ability (yet) to edit it. (Hint* have your cover image ready to go prior to upload)
