First, we want to express how much we value our partnership. While we’re sad to see you go, we understand that business needs can change, and we want to ensure you have all the information necessary for a smooth transition.
What Happens to Your Website?
Think of your website like a house – it needs both land to sit on (web server) and a way to make changes (the VividSite Pro Platform). When you cancel your subscription:
- We can send you all your website files – imagine this as receiving the blueprints and materials of your house
- However, you’ll still need to find new “land” (a web server) to place these files on so your website remains visible on the internet
- The website builder (the familiar editing tool, VividSite Pro) won’t be available anymore – it’s like having the house but no longer having access to the renovation team that made changes so easy
Understanding Your Website After Cancellation
By canceling your website’s subscription to the VividSite Pro Platform, your website will no longer have “land” to live on, meaning it will not be viewable unless hosted on a server elsewhere.
Some features will no longer work after export, even on a new server. For example:
- Contact forms
- Personalization features
- Other interactive elements
- Most importantly, you won’t be able to make changes through the user-friendly VividSite Pro editor anymore. Any future changes will require someone with knowledge of HTML and CSS.
Website Export Process
If you’re planning to keep your current website, we’ll provide you with your website files:
- We will send a .zip file to the email address you specify on the cancellation form
- This includes all your HTML, CSS, and images
- You’ll receive up to three versions of the site (for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices)
Domain and Email Changes
If you’ve taken advantage of our domain and DNS management and email services, those services will be affected:
- You’ll need to transfer your domain to another registrar to keep it
- You’ll also need to recreate your DNS records (we’ll send you a copy of the current records)
- Email services with us will end
- You will need to set up and activate new email services before cancellation
Review these key considerations before cancellation:
- Website Plans
- New website: Transfer only domain and email services if needed
- Keeping current design: Secure new web hosting/server provider first
- Additional Requirements
- Choose a new domain registrar if needed & transfer your domains
- Recreate DNS records
- Set up replacement email services
