What To Know About Facebook’s New Link Limit & How To Work Around It
Facebook has started limiting some business pages to 2 links per month, counting links in both posts and comments. Once you’ve used both, you’ll see a message saying you’ve reached the max until the 1st of next month. The limit is rolling out gradually, so some page owners are hitting it while others can still post links as usual. As with many changes Meta makes that start out as Beta and roll out gradually, there doesn’t appear to be any rhyme or reason to who is seeing this change. We know some of our clients have experienced this, so we wanted to give you more information.
It’s probably no surprise that links are becoming something Facebook can charge for. Facebook has long preferred to keep people on its platform, and its algorithm has given link posts less reach for years. Links in paid ads still work, and pages that want more links in regular posts can upgrade to a paid Meta One plan, which starts at $49.99/mo for 8 links.
Facebook marketing expert Mari Smith shares several workarounds & suggestions for dealing with the link limit if you don’t want a paid account. One of the simplest is to put your most important link in a post and pin it to your page’s Featured section, so it stays easy to find all month. Facebook Events are another good option, since as far as we can tell, event links don’t count toward the limit right now. Use them for sales, open houses or community events.
