Facebook is always changing to keep up with technology, offering new ways to brands to promote, and finding a new modern look. Lately, they are looking at new ways of using Facebook Messenger to communicate with Page Owners, show ads, and allow brands to provide better customer service. Here are a few of the recent Facebook changes to be aware of.
Facebook Messenger for better Customer Service Interactions: Facebook is making it easier for brands to provide better customer service and be more instant. The Facebook “Discover” button makes it easy to find your favorite brand on Messenger. Try this: Search for major businesses in Messenger before calling an 800 number. You may find that some brands offer faster customer service through Facebook Messenger chat.
Facebook Ads Displayed via Messenger: Facebook is also testing Messenger home tab ads so you may see this when you are setting up a Facebook Ad (under “edit placements”). Facebook Messenger has also been sending information in new ways, such as for tips on marketing and Facebook Ad Support, for example. Watch for Facebook Messenger to continue to evolve.
Facebook Disables the Ability to Edit Link Previews: In an effort to fight fake news and click-bait, Facebook has disabled the ability for users to edit their link previews. To make sure legit publishers don’t get affected by the change, Facebook has added a new tab under Page Publishing Tools that they can use to apply for link ownership.
Profile Pictures changing to a Circle instead of a Square: You may notice that your square profile picture is evolving to a circle on your Facebook page and the newsfeed. You will want to take a look at your current profile image and make any adjustments or changes so that it displays correctly. Videos in Facebook cover images (20-90 seconds long) are also being tested.
Facebook Posts with Canvas Builder: Under Publishing tools, you can create a Canvas, which is a combination of videos, photos, and more. Previously just used for ads, you can now create a Canvas as a regular post on Facebook. It still appears to be in beta but has a tour and tips for building the Canvas so you can start playing with it.
Facebook Preferred Audience: This option has been available for some time, but they have added many more interests for targeting your posts. Make sure it is activated by going to settings – Audience Optimization. Click here for more information on reaching your preferred Facebook Audience.
