This is our first Wordless Wednesday post from Vivid Image. Therefore, I hope you’ll forgive me for giving a little explanation into what Wordless Wednesday is, why it’s important for small business, and how we plan to participate in the future.
Wordless Wednesday is a social networking activity started by bloggers who wanted to use pictures to substitute for wordy blog posts. We’ve all heard that a picture says a thousand words, right? Well, why not use photographs to share a sentiment or convey a message about your business? Pictures have a way of making things so much more interesting and cutting through the traditional “marketing speak”. As our team at Vivid Image continues to encourage small businesses to embrace social media and all it has to offer, it is our honor to explain all aspects of this interesting, new method of connecting with people.
As you think about what it is that you could photograph to tell a story about your business, make sure you keep a camera readily available. It is the trick to capturing your ideas when opportunity presents itself.
I chose this photograph because it represents an insight into my blogging mind. I always get the question, how do you help a varied clientele come up with blogging ideas? How do you know what to post on Facebook or Twitter? Well, I believe that a postive attitude and creativity goes a long way.
This photograph was taken last weekend while camping. I took one look at the campfire that was burning leftover white, non-chemical treated wood pieces, thought of a conversation I recently had with Litchfield Building Center about burning such wood, and grabbed my camera. I wanted to get a photograph to accompany some posts they are planning.
I snapped this photograph for a Vivid Image client, but then I started to think about writing an article that would help our other clients get inspired to blog, think creatively, and use more photographs. I plan to use Wordless Wednesday to inspire “out of the box” ideas for you and other ways to use photographs, in conjunction with blog posts.
Have I inspired you to grab your camera or post a Wordless Wednesday blog post? Remember that most Wordless Wednesday posts are not this wordy. Also, use the hashtag #wordlesswednesday on Twitter, and you’ll be amazed at how many people will click over to see your photograph!
