I grew up listening to my parents music, and while our tastes have diverged a bit over the years, I still have a deep appreciation for “Crosby, Stills and Nash”, “CCR”, “Blue Riders of the Purple Sage” and “Peter, Paul and Mary.” Last year when I was asked to sit on the marketing committee for RiverSong Music Festival, I jumped at the chance to be involved. Not only would I be able to help out with a growing festival in my own town, but I’d get a sneak peek at the slated performers. When I heard that Peter Yarrow of the former “Peter, Paul and Mary” will be this year’s Living Legend performer, I felt the excitement building. RiverSong is less than two weeks away, and I can’t believe I’ll be humming along soon to my favorite tunes. (Our kids are excited to see Academy Award winning “Okee Dokee Brothers”)
Since I stepped forward to help with RiverSong, I’ve had the privilege of helping use social media to spread the word about RiverSong. We applied and secured over $10,000 in Google Grants to use toward online ads to draw people from all over the country to Hutchinson, MN. Our latest use of social media is our “hot-off-the-press” Kickstarter campaign that will run now until the festival. From creative ways to use Constant Contact and Facebook in tandem with the local Hutchinson Leader Newspaper, to beautiful posters and digital billboards the marketing efforts for RiverSong have been second to none, and I’m proud to be serving with such a fine group of creative people.
If you’ve never attended Riversong before, you are in for a treat. Once you attend, you’ll be hooked. With live music on two stages, a children’s tent, and a NEW jam session tent, you’ll be amazed at the talent and entertainment. The food and specialty vendors, wine and craft beers, and hydration (water) station along scenic Crow River will show you unparalleled hospitality. RiverSong is handicap accessible, features free parking (come and go if you want), adjacent camping sites, and kids get in FREE with parents.
