Remarkable marketing is about getting in front of the right audience with the right message! Facebook offers several different ways for you to get in front of your ideal target market and better understand your Facebook Fans. Let’s take a closer look at some ways to get closer to your Preferred Facebook Audience.
Set your Preferred Facebook Audience
You can set your Facebook Page to have a Preferred Page Audience so that Facebook knows who the most important people are to show your page, and possibly gain new likes.
Go to your page settings —> Under Preferred Audience, select People you choose through targeting and click Edit. Fill in these options:
– Demographics: Select the gender and age range of your typical customers.
– Locations: Which cities or towns are your customers in?
– Interests: Select things your customers like, such as hobbies, magazines they read, organizations they support, or brands they like.
After identifying the preferred audience you would most like to connect with, Facebook will estimate the size of your audience. Anyone will be able to find your page, but Facebook tries to put in front of people who matter to you most.
Use Audience Optimization To Target your Facebook Posts
When you make a post on your page, you can set a Preferred Audience or Audience Restrictions for that post. This allows you to more precisely target your current fans with posts that apply to them (such as age, location, gender, language, and interests). For instance, if a particular post only applies to men (not women) or people in a certain zip code, you can target the post to them only. To use, click on the small “target” icon near the bottom of the post box. If you don’t see this option, click on your page settings —> General —> Audience Optimization for Posts —> and make sure the box is checked.
Use Facebook Ads to get in Front of your Target Audience
With Facebook Ads, you can use detailed audience targeting to get your ads in front of more people. Since Facebook Ads are a paid option, there are even more options for targeting than the Preferred Facebook Audience for your Page or Audience Optimization for your post options mentioned above. You can target people base on their education, work, home type, net worth, life events, family relationships, vehicles owned, traveling and purchasing behavior, and a lot more! You can even use custom audiences to target people on your email list, people who have visited your website or Facebook page, or LookAlike Audiences for targeting people who have similar demographics to your current customers or fans. Use Audience Insights to Learn about your Fans
Facebook’s Audience Insights was designed for people to create audiences for Facebook Ads but it can also be used for market research. You can access it if you have a Facebook Ads Manager or Facebook Business Manager set up, under All Tools —> Audience Insights (or try clicking here). You will be able to look at how people connected to your Facebook page break down in areas such as relationship status, education level, household data, purchase behavior, and much more. Audiences can be saved for future use and are saved in your Facebook Ads Audiences section. Taking a look at your Audience Insights will give you a deeper look into your Facebook Fans as a whole and may help you formulate marketing strategies.
