By now you’ve probably heard that video is playing a Remark!able role in social marketing, and you’ve maybe even been advised to explore ways in which your business can use video to tell your story and get others to tell it for you. The beauty of video is its engagement factor married with entertainment. Make a video that people want to pass along to their friends and you’ve hit a jackpot for your business.
This past week a friend posted a video that I could tell had a Muppet in it with cats. Since my daughter loves cats, I decided to check it out in hopes it would be one that would elicit a giggle from her. I ended up thinking it was funny, showing my daughter, and passing it along on Facebook to my friends. Always the marketer, I realized I need to take a deeper look into what made me share this video with my family and explore the intent of its creator.
The value of the video is its simplicity. It’s likely to appeal to cat lovers, and allow all others to pass by it. It’s a subtle ad for Ford, with very little of the Ford logo even visible.Once the video is played in YouTube, there is a whole series of Muppet videos that I wasn’t aware that Ford even produced. Each one is clever, funny, and targets a very niche market. Notice the call to actions at the end of this video and the 6 seconds the video stays on the call to action?
