How some banks are using social media to build business:
Connect more with your local community: Bremer Bank uses their Twitter account to share their involvement with local charities, as well as other Bremer happenings. Their Twitter page is customized with a photo showing their employees’ families which gives it a nice human touch.
Establish credibility: 1st Mariner Bank shares finance articles from across the web on their Facebook page, giving the impression that they are not just there to make money, but to educate.
Differentiate Yourself: Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union uses Twitter to teach people about the differences between credit unions and banks, and share events, photos, and connect with members. They also do a nice job of getting their members to interact on their Facebook page by using “Participation Points” as rewards and offer them thru various Facebook promotions.
Highlight your community: Missouri Bank focuses on their customers on their homepage in a creative way. Using colorful circles with their customer pictures, they feature testimonials, then also give their customers an extra benefit my linking back to their webpage.
