If you use Constant Contact and Google Analytics, I have a simple tip that will help you to see the results of your email initiatives. This step will automatically include tracking on your Constant Contact email links so you can easily see how your emails drive traffic through your website.
Use all the best practices for writing and preparing your email newsletter. When you are ready to send the email, click “Continue” to finalize your email, then don’t miss this step…
Tracking your Constant Contact Emails in Google Analytics:
Under “Additional Options” (on the right side of the screen) make sure that the “Google Analytics” box is checked and that you give it a unique Google Analytics Campaign Title. For instance, if it is a monthly newsletter, include the month and year. If it has specific content, or a promoted subject, you may want to include that in the Title. This is the title that will show up in your Google Analytics stats, so you will want to differentiate it from other emails.
Of course, Constant Contact has many reporting features such as open rate, click-thru rate, opt-outs, and so on. But by taking this extra step with Google Analytics tracking, you can more easily compare your email marketing efforts with the other marketing you are doing so you can see what is driving the most traffic to your website.
